So TRB stands for Tax Return Build. It's going to be an Acro dominant mixed reef.

The tank is a Innovative Marine 75 gallon Ext with APS stand.

20190206_134610.jpg

I pretty much put the biggest tank I could in this little area and the 75g ext has amazing dimensions.

The only prep work I did was run two new complete circuits dedicated to the tank. I honestly didn't take to many pictures of the process.

20190206_104738.jpg

I also went to a local plastics shop and had them cut me a textured ABS sheet for the bottom. (Going Barebottom)

20190206_152333.jpg

This is where i'm at so far. I need to grab some black silicone to tack the ABS in.

A big shipment is coming tomorrow with Marco rocks, 2 heaters, 2 sicce pumps, 26" trigger triton v2 sump (Snagged it with the Sale BRS just had of them), couple pieces of plumbing, and salt! (blue bucket).

I'm going to take my time setting this puppy up so bear with me, though it shouldn't be to long honestly!

Equipment List:

ATI 8 Bulb Sunpower (4 - Blue+, 2 - Coral+, 1 - Actinic, 1 - Geisemann Tropic)
Reef Octopus EsSence 130 Skimmer
Sicce return pump
2 x Gyre 330

Why are you using UF instead of Romex wire? Sorry I’m an electrician and I just had to ask.

I ran the wire under my house and it's outside rated. I realized its probably for UV protection but it was only 4 bucks more for a 100 ft roll and figured why not add some protection.

Is there something detrimental to running it versus standard romex?

That is a sharp looking tank!

I'm pretty impressed by it! Innovative marine did a great job on the build!

Ok some goodies came today. Sump, some plumbing, couple heaters and pumps!
20190207_192736.jpg

And ROCKS!
20190207_192727.jpg 20190207_192426.jpg

This is the scape I settled on for now, going to sleep on it and see if it sticks. This is about 50lbs or so of marco rock. I ordered 70lbs total, 40 regular and 30 shelf. I cut about 20 pounds of my regular marco rock with a tile saw so it had a nice flat bottom to sit on the ABS bottom.

Its really hard to get depth perception from the pictures but there is a ton of spots for coral. I dunked all the peices in a couple buckets of R.O water to clean them out and they turned out pretty good

I'm doing the 4 month cycle that BRS/WWC hybrid series keeps talking about. I have a little over a year old nuvo 20 with a bunch of corals and clownfish that will just to the new tank when that finishes.

I'm going to work on plumbing this weekend and see if I can get that done.

Looking great. I think the aquascape came out excellent.

Thanks cave! Your clownfish almost made me consider getting one for this tank and rehoming my occ. Pair haha.

Looks like a awesome start, definitely following this build.

I’m eyeing this same setup. What are your first impressions of the tank and stand?

Definitely no complaints so far. The stand is pretty much a blank canvas to modify how you want which is great. Its something to consider if you want something that requires no diy though. The tank looks super sleek in person as well and besides the typical buyers remorse i get after spending big money im happy!

Got almost all of the plumbing done! I just barely ran out of 1" pvc (My fault for cutting big then trimming)

Leak testing the bulkheads as we speak.
20190208_152145.jpg 20190208_153749.jpg

No unions on any of the plumbing (to me its just another place to leak). Though if/when I have to remove the sump or tank I will cut and add them then.

I'm probably going to have to dial the sicce 3.0's back a bit as I have two and i'm worried about noise in the sump (the in sump overflows, not the pumps itself). They were the same dimensions as the 2.0 so I got the 3's.

Over the weekend update.

Leveled up the tank
20190209_134405.jpg

Filled with RO water and ran it over night to leak test. Everything was dry but decided that two 3.0 pumps was just to much. Dropped down to 1 pump and T'd it off. The flow is much more pleasant.
20190211_185831.jpg

Mixed the salt in today. Once I got it to 35ppt I dosed some Ammonium Chloride and dosed Microbacter7. I plan to follow the instructions for the microbacter and then toss in some fritz turbo start a day before I put the first fish in. (In about a month, give or take)
20190211_185818.jpg

That should be it for updates for about a month! See you guys then!

My tank finished up its cycle a couple days ago so I gave it till yesterday. I added some Turbostart 9000 and waited a few hours and threw the clowns from my Nuvo 20 in. They seem much happier today. That gave me incentive to hang this 8 bulb ATI sunpower I bought from a fellow reef2reef'er.
20190307_174330.jpg

I've also been working on the sump when i'm bored preparing it for more gear to start going in.
20190307_174352.jpg
(Don't worry I fill those jugs with RODI)

I'm stealing my ATO from my Nuvo but its still full of coral so its going to be a little while before that goes live. Got some new xf330 gyres coming in the mail sometime next week as well.

Thats about it for today.

Update time!

Got the Reef Octopus EsSence 130 Skimmer about a week ago and its been breaking in nice.
20190326_152938.jpg

The clowns have been in 20 days or so. So I picked up a tomini tang yesterday they had at my lfs, he ate there. I was a tad worried my rocks were to bare and he wouldn't eat nori (reading online some don't). Regardless he went in and ate Nori today. He finished off about an square inch of it rubber banded to an old tunze care magnet. So that relieved some anxiety.
20190326_152351.jpg

Oh you can also see I moved my Cleaner Shrimp over a couple days ago as well, he loves exploring even with the lights on.

So that brings me to something I just did about 30 minutes ago. I moved some Acro frags over from my 20 gallon because i'm finishing breaking it down this week. All I had left were these browned out acro frags. So with no sign of corraline, or even algae on the rocks for that matter, i'm going to see if these guys can pull through as this tank matures. My original plan was to not even add corals till november, but as you can see plans change. Here are shots of the brownies with names so I can remember them in the future.

No name Green Highlighter Acro

Tyree Pink Lemonade

I believe this was an ORA Indo Purple Tipped Stag
20190326_151353.jpg

Hopefully these guys can survive the tank maturing.

That's it for now.

Quick update. Acros are all doing ok. They all have slight encrustment started and its leaving me hopeful they will survive. They are starting to get some color back as well but they are still pretty brown.

The tomini tang is doing great. He eats like a pig and picks at the rock all day. I also have a yellow banded possum wrasse coming tomorrow with some trochus, cerith, and astrea snails. Got the acclimation box up and ready for it.

20190409_183444.jpg

Going to work on getting my refugium going soon. I still don't have phosphates (Hanna ULR) so i'm going to wait till I at least see .01 on the tester.

Tank is looking great. What other fish are planning on?

So i'm acclimating a yellow banded possum wrasse now. With that 2 clowns, pink streaked wrasse and the tomini, Ill be at 5.

I was thinking of throwing in 3 azure damsels as a possible last addition. that would bring me up to 8, and they are all small fish. I was planning to see how my nutrients behave over a few months and see if more is a possibility then.

Thanks for checking the build out!
