Hey everyone! After a tough time with my aquarium, i got fed up, frustrated, and i couldn't keep up with the issue i was having. I started to neglect my aquarium, and the corals had started to die off. For months I left my aquarium alone to fend itself off from potential problems that could arise. That let algae overrun everything and killed the remaining corals. I continued to leave it alone for months (I still fed my fish), but then, months later, I looked at it finally, saw the living conditions that my fish where in, and I felt horrible for giving up and letting them live in their own filth for months. I thought of my dog, we rescued her as a senior dog with the goal to give her the best life for her last years, and thought, "I bought these fish with the intent to give them the best lives, how could I have let this happen?" And that's where I decided to make a change. I made salt water and did a small water change over the course of a few days, removed the algae on the rocks, glass etc, and cleaned the equipment. The aquarium looked healthy and clean again. I looked around and noticed a lack of a clean up crew, so, during these times, I went online to order my new batch of corals and clean up crew. I ordered a few trochus and turbo snails along with a few hermit crabs. for the first corals, I bought a gold hammer (2 heads for $150 Canadian along with 4 baby heads that are growing), sunset monti, and a Tyree toadstool. I've been in this hobby for 3 years now (6 years in total but got into saltwater later on) and I had never owned a single zoa, until yesterday. Yesterday I went down to my local lfs to see how everything was and saw a bunch of corals that where healthy. I looked around for hours and decided it was time to indulge myself with zoanthids. I bought 2, specifically eagle eyes and sunny d's. I'm happy to report that everyone is happy and healthy. I wanted to make this post to let everyone know that even if your aquarium is having a rough time and its a difficult issue that you dont think you can resolve it, its not the end of the world. We are in this hobby because we enjoy it, make the most of it!
