Brand new pump. Brand new tank. Just added live rock. Going to be away for the weekend so I simulated a power outage.

Pump will not turn back on. Pump makes a humming noise but no flow and gives an E3 error.

The booklet that came with the pump says E3 is a voltage protection error.

Google and This says it is an impeller problem.

I have already taken it apart and "cleaned it." Nothing to clean. Plug back in and same noise.

This is not the first time I have killed power to this pump. Always turned back on with no problem

If you’ve taken it apart and looked at it and did some cleaning, not much past this that you can do.

Can you change anything via the controller? Haven’t had this issues with the smaller mightyjet. 500 and smaller.

IM’s manual I’m looking at is stating impeller stuck. Try turning it on without the guard. Just an idea.

This is what I’m seeing. But try turning it on without the guard on, or dry spinning it by hand.

I have three MightyJets and have never seen this error, but my thought would be to see if anything is jamming up the impeller. It sounds like you've done that, but maybe take another look for a speck of sand or something. That's all I've got, but I hope it helps 🙂

I fixed it....

The backflow must have dislodged the impeller. In the stress and disbelief of the situation (again, not the first time I killed power in setting the tank up) I failed to notice that there are two pegs and corresponding holes that need to match up when putting the impeller back into the pump. I must not have done this the first time. Boy do I feel dumb. Quality 2nd post here in this community but I appreciate the responsiveness and concern. Thank you.

Here is a picture of the clearly wrong booklet that came with my pump. I wish I had saved the incorrect booklet that came with the stand... I really hope the quality control of this company goes into the products and not the paperwork.
