I'M STUMPED?

Anyone notice this, I have stored, real SW. I checked alkilinity was 6 kh. From just siting now 1 month. Was on day one stored at 8kh. SW in clean empty barrel. Water is not run thru uv, filter at 50micronwhen bought? Nothing else. Anyone any input?

Perhaps dissolved CO2 wasn't yet equilibrated when you stored it, and it further offgassed over the month. Would also expect a slight rise in pH.

Every salt mix I have ever used drops between 1-2 dkh in a 2-week time span. Also not heated, stirred etc.

SW does not store well for long, most keep DI water on hand and mix when needed.

I’ve also heard that the bottom of the bag can differ from the top?

Im thinking bacteria. This is real ocean H2O. Has live bacteria?

Typically alk will drop from depletion of calcium carbonate.
Maybe post in chem forum for a better explanation on this and bacteria
