Just recently, I was planning a shipment of 100 dendronephthya corals, also known as carnation corals, from Vietnam. I'm glad I didn't. First, the seller doesn't need CITES permits
for this soft coral,when soft coral is on live rock, yes CITES permit needed, and make things easier at customs, they obtain one for each coral.
Then health certificates, then an export broker. Seller deals with airline to obtain, FOB. Freight on board , cost of shipping from airline to you. At this point I would wire the money. If wiring money, you better really trust them, because if wiring money, no way of getting back. There's no escrow here. After all this, I need an import broker, permits from Feds, permits from state. And if you read the fine print the state and/or Feds can visit the location where corals are kept. To see if well taken care of. I think I'll get my next shipment of corals from my wholesalers in Socal. No thanks.
