In need of help, Algae

What algae is this? It’s VERY annoying, in the mornings it’s minimal but by the end of the day it’s EVERYWHERE … what is it and how do I get rid of it? I can blow it off with my turkey baste thing and I do this multiple times times through out the day. It turns a reddish color by the end of the night

Tank looks pretty new? If that is the case I would sort of chalk it up to "the uglies".

125G six-foot tank, and I actually have 8 clowns; I haven't had any issues all being introduced at the same time. Once I see any aggression, I have another 6-foot and smaller tank to disperse too. To the tank age, it fully cycled around the 31st of October. I am not running anything in it, and when it comes to carbon or GFO, I have the equipment too do it; I just haven't placed it in as I'm still learning. The lighting schedule is on at 11 and off at 11 (was told to run 12 hours of light by LFS). I am not doing anything crazy but phytoplankton (twice a week) for pods and then coraline algae booster to try to get them to start. I can do some tests later if needed. Just looking for any advice on maybe what I'm doing wrong or need to change.

It still is relatively new, but I have no issues keeping anything in it or going; torches have been good, nems have been good, etc. Nutrients I can run some tests later but i know the nitrates were at 36.4 and the alk was at 9.24. like said before lights are on at 11 and off at 11. Flow I have multiple wavemakers and a gyre running in the tank. (MP10, a larger chinese knock off set on the lowest setting, a gyre, and a smaller jabeo) Clean up crew consist of hermets, turbo snails (Other snails, forgot the name), and emerald crabs. Water source is an RO from BRS the TDS reads 0 on the out so I wouldnt think that would be the issue.

Params r a must for algae, it’s needed rn, so if u could, testing would be great :)

Just the ugly stage it’s only a little over a month cycled it will go away but you will still go through some more uglies.

Will there be any issues with smothering my corals? As should I keep blowing it off with the baster.

It wouldn’t hurt to keep the corals clean of it for sure. Just keep your parameters good and stable and it will go away…I went through months of it.

Lookslike green cyano, reduce your feeding, add bacteria everyday, reduce ur light to 8-9 hrs only

Calcium - 440ppm
alk - 9.24
Nitrate - 36.4
phosphate - 0.37
Salinity - 35.2

The calcium was done with an API (I dont have my hanna in yet for it); everything else was hanna.

Yeah some of what you are seeing does seem like the ugly stages of a new tank that will likely go away with time. . .

That said, I would lower your N and P as I like to run them a bit lower (others will probably disagree) as well as get some sort of sand sifting creature (I would probably stick to CUC and NOT add a fish given your high(er than I like) nutrients.)

Oh, and I see 5 clowns in there? I worry that may be a problem long term, but will let the clown experts chime in. . .

IMO i would make these changes:
Tank is new so ugly phase is expected. I hope the bubbles you have in pic is not dinos. But keep sand shifting daily so that doesn't happen.

Get nitrate between 10 and 15
Get phosphate between .04 and .1
I keep Alk around 8 - 8.5 dkh.
Lights no more that 9 hours daily. Test par and don't go over 380-400 at top of water level.
Feed only what they eat. Don't broadcast and let food go in filters etc.

Be patient and give it time after making these adjustments.

When you guys say run lights at those amount of times what about the refugium? Should I run it also at a 7-9 hour window while the main light is off or should I run it full time the main light is off?

Depends on who you ask and what you are trying to accomplish. I almost always run opposing schedules, 12 hours of display lights then 12 hours of refugium light. That said, some people run the fuge light 24/7 (this is often recommended for specific types of fuge algae). The later method is probably better for getting rid of nutrients, but the former is PROBABLY better for reducing pH swings at night. . .
