Hey guy and gals. I’m new to culturing my own micro organisms. My phyto isn’t getting really dark green. It’s been in this bottle for about 2 weeks. I started adding a little more f2 without any noticeable results. I do have what looks to be algae at the bottom that I stir up. I have red and blue lights on it as well as a led strip and a grow light in the background.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Possibly too much lighting? It doesn't need intense lighting.

Did you have an airline to bubble the water?

I'm just throwing some thoughts out there, will wait for more knowledgeable folks to help you, good luck.

At my LFS, she sells it out of a big glass jar with an air line bubbling away in it. She keeps it right on the counter with a small light on it. It really looks nice the way she has it set up, you know all fancy like.

But I think you need the water to circulate in the growing container.

I do have an air line in the culture. Here’s an above view of what I have going on. I split it to the lighter bottle hoping to recover it.

Looking good 🤷🏻‍♂️
Nannochloropsis?
yes nanno . Looks good? It’s not getting dark enough and it’s been 2 weeks. Is it useable?

What works for me is a 10 or 12w daylight LED lightbulb in direct contact with four 2 liter pop bottles inside a 5 gallon bucket. I run a double setup like that and harvest on an 8 day rotation. Easy and effective. Yes, yes, The Doors!

Any chance you have a picture of your setup? I can't get my mind wrapped around what you're describing but I am VERY intrigued.

I finally figured it out a few weeks ago. Going strong now. Nanno, tetra, and tiso. Also copepods and brine! 🤣. It’s actually fascinating to watch everything grow.
