Hey all! Navy vet turned cybersecurity nerd here. Also dabble in video game development. Grew up in Appalachia so there wasn't much of a reefer scene, but I always dreamed of someday having the means to start one. So this is kind of it. Getting stuck in! I have to say, its pretty terrifying to get started into a well established pursuit such as reef keeping. Lots of expectations, do's, dont's, and gotcha's. It's hard to sort out what to worry about, what to not worry about, or how to prioritize when to start worrying!

Over the last several weeks i've just been accumulating gear. From all my research, I felt the RODI system, and basic prep work was critical. So that's where we are. We were able to mount and setup the RODI system today, but the PSI is so very low. If i add the 4th stage DI Resin Filter in, it just can't even push past 50 PSI and you see a very tiny trickle of productive water and a ton of waste. If I cut the Resin out, I get a usable speed but not as pure of a water. it lowered to about 13ppm TDS without the resin filter. I leak tested the tank and wiped it back out. I ran the test for 3+ hours, but wasn't quite committed to 24. I noticed no bubbling or other silicon issues and the paper towels I spread around the bottom of the tank showed no moisture from the tank itself, though I sprinkled them a bit when I used the python to drain it. Woops! I also picked out some rock, and I've rinsed the first 15 pounds of sand and placed it on the bottom of the tank.

I'll set the rock in next, then finish rinsing and filling the tank with about 50 pounds of sand. Once that's done, i'll start mixing! Getting late here tonight though, but i'll update this thread over time.
