Hello,

Is anyone injecting/dosing ozone directly to an octopus regal skimmer? I want to lightly dose about 15-20 mins each night or has needed. Not sure if that white hose is ozone safe.

By chance, has anyone attempted using the venturi from the octo elite in their octopus regal? I don’t trust the white inlet tubing being ozone safe, and I wanted to see what makes the elite “ozone ready”. That’s when I noticed my regal 250 Int and the elite 220 int both use the VarioS 6s pump. It got me thinking, can I just buy the elite venturi? The website on coralvue has on it sale for 34.79. That one has the built in ozone port.

Both skimmers say they are made of the same acrylic. The elite uses PVC but the design is different.

Any input?

I’m using ozone on my regal 200 going into one of the inlets on the silencer for 6 months now. No signs of a problem. Using a Poseidon 200 set at 4 through a drier with a ehiem air pump for an hour a day. Previously ran it for 6 hours on #2 but desiccant was being used too fast.

And the white tubing has not changed at all? I thought about charging the stock tubing for an ozone safe one but then I came across the venturi idea. I have ran my Poseidon 200 at 3.5 and I can see the skimmer foam change immediately. I run mine without an air pump or air dryer. My home has ac on 24/7. I have only done it a few times to clear out the water.

Nope not at all. I use an air pump because in the manual it says it needs a certain amount of airflow and I wasn’t getting much of any through just from what the skimmer could pull off that second port. And having the skimmer pull all of its air intake through the ozone was too restrictive due to the small airline taps on the generator.
When I run at 2 I don’t smell any ozone under the skimmer lid, on 4 I do smell it faintly. The bubbles don’t change any when I run it, they just smell better.
You could also drill a slightly smaller hole than the ozone tubing diameter is where the second injection port would be and squeeze the ozone tube into there or if you can find a barbed tee for the white line and feed in there.

Not sure what you did, but I contacted coralvue and asked about running ozone on my regal and the guy said they're ozone resistant, but it's just not made for the exhuast gas leaving the skimmer. I just ran the tube into one of those silencer ports on mine.

I did the same actually but I was concerned about the white tube not being ozone safe. When I run it, is at level 2 for about 20 mins a week. I plan on getting the part when I order my abc reagents next month. I will report back if this helped or was a fail. It should fit since the pump is the same.

Cool, definitely interested!

Out of curiosity what are you using to generate the ozone? Have you used it for long?

Bringing this back! I'm also setting up an Ozone with a Regal 200 Int and wanted to check a couple of things. How would the ozone connect to the venturi? Doesn't venturi go from pump into the skimmer?? (I'm not a plumbing person, so this may be obvious to most, but it's not to me! LOL)

And is the white tube ozone safe? Was that decided?
