Hi all,

I just set up my IM SR and, in general, I’m loving it… however, there’s a very significant noise problem that I cannot pin down. The water coming from the right overflow is extremely fast and creates an incredibly loud trickling noise.

Any advice? It’s only on the right side and it’s honestly driving me nuts.

It could be several things. You could have the pump turned up to fast (assuming it is a controllable pump), you could need to add a little more water in the return pump chamber. It is hard to tell exactly what area of the filtration the noise is coming from. Id try to add some water in the return pump chamber until it is just below the baffle of the chamber next to it and/or turn down the speed of the pump (which should raise the water level).

I did add more water and the issue persisted. I just swapped what side the media basket vs filter sock was on and somehow that seemed to help. Honestly no idea why but it is much quieter now.

I had the SR 60 and one thing you can do is turn the Mighty Jet pumps to lowest setting easily with the attached controller. That should help noise. Also consider removing the sock and getting a second media basket. Use cheap aquarium floss in the top of them. That’s what I’m doing presently with my IM 25 lagoon as well.

Had them on the lowest setting as well. I thought switching what side the media basket was on would help but right side is still trickling/gulping.

How is the water level? IM has that little sticker on the upper left corner showing max water level. If it’s below that you could try adding to that point to see. My IM is quiet. Spookily so.
