Insight on three new Acros please

I just ordered three more frags from @TopShelfAquatics ...Great sale going on! Does anyone have any insight into, TSA Bollywood, Jake Adams Immortal Tort or RR Aussie Gold Acro? As I mentioned before in another thread, I steered away from the ultra frags that I would have a hard time coloring up in my mixed reef due to lighting limits of my LPS, and went mid tier Acros. I am confident with these three, but would love some confirmation in regards to lighting, growth, etc.

I have two spots in good flow that gets 275+ par at my mid-day peak with solid whites around 14k. The other spot maxes out a little lower, 245+ par. Not much of a difference, but I want the best for these new corals.

I’ve got a bolly and ausie gold from TSA. Maybe around 325 PAR, flow is good (just below 2 gyres ripping over ‘em). For me the gold was sweet right out of the gate and the bolly seemed a bit slow to click.

I’ve got a bolly and ausie gold from TSA. Maybe around 325 PAR, flow is good (just below 2 gyres ripping over ‘em). For me the gold was sweet right out of the gate and the bolly seemed a bit slow to click.

Thanks for the reply. My Aussie Gold has looked great right out of the bag, the Bollywood is colored up on one side only right now. Of course, it is back side away from my full view. I guess they had it in a corner, or against a wall so only half was getting lit at TSA, and I didn't notice when I glued the frag. It is starting to grow a bit and color up though.

Bollywood/ A. latistella frags always lose a little bit of color for a while after being cut, once new growth starts really taking off it starts to show its beauty with bright purple base and yellow highlights on the corallites calice rims. I think the best looking colonies we have are receiving 350-370 PAR for 5+ hrs a day.

We got our immortal tort directly from Jake himself when he last visited the farm in February of 2022, the main colony we frag off of sits at 300par, it's got some battle tested genetics/ resiliency as Jake coined it's name after one of the RB studios coral flats was nuked by a kalkwasser O.D. and it was the only Acropora to survive if I remember correctly.


Aussie gold is also a fairly bulletproof/ beginner friendly acro as it's lineage has been in captivity for a long time and it doesn't require close attention to or keeping lower nutrients to keep it's nice coloration.

Indeed, regarding the immortal tort, if I remember correctly he originally collected it while visiting Tim Kelly at his Solomon Islands facility, the same trip where he went searching for the original Tyree purple monster/ acropora longicyathus in the wild that he published an article on.
Very cool coral with an awesome story behind it, I feel grateful we are able to culture and spread one of Jakes corals and his legacy to other hobbists.

I just picked up a beautiful multi-branch Walt Disney acropora from Morgan of Reef Gardener. She wrote an article years ago for Reef Builders, when we talked about the immortal tort and Jake Adams she mentioned the only thing anyone could come up with was that his passing probably had to do with flying after lots of diving.

I don't think so, if I'm not mistaken he was on his way to Bali to go diving with Vincent Chalias, not on a return flight / post diving. It was likely a myocardial infarction or pulmonary embolism not related to getting bent after diving, either way super sad, great guy who will continue to be missed.
