I’ve always noticed that my po4 reads higher when my alk is higher. So I just did a little test. I ran my alk test on my trident
and tested Po4 with my hand ulr

Then I added 15mls of alk and redid both tests.

Test were done about 10 minutes apart and the only thing added was 15mls of alk and Po4 read 0.02 ppm higher.

I vaguely recall some association between nitrate (or nitrification) and alkalinity, but not PO4. Curious to see what you come up with though.

+-.02 is the quoted error range on the ULR I think.

I knew someone would throw that out there bc I would do the same thing, but my alk swings 1-1.5 dKh daily and my po4 is always higher when my dKh is at its highest daily value. We’ll see later tonight.

You could ask this in the chemistry forum and somebody will probably know. I doubt that there is that much P in your alk supplement, if any, but I guess that there could be a small trace. Kalk can precipitate po4 out of the water, but I have no idea what might raise this.

Which alk supplement are you using? Carbonate? Bicarbonate?

Never mind
Turns out it was just the margin of error
Carry on
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Dang it Charlie I lost the freebie CF New Release the other day and I want a refund! ;) :(

The other pieces remain in good shape. I had moved them (within the same water system) from T5 to a T5/LED hybrid tank.

I was wondering if it could be a calibration error with the Hanna?
