My Kole Tang has never been very aggressive about eating the algae in my tank. He’d pick at the easy spots and go straight for the nori clip. Even when I stopped offering the nori, he would just wait for it instead of grazing more.
Recently I started hanging the nori clip higher up, toward the center of the tank, in lower flow. He never goes up there to get it, but my mollies do. They shred it and spread little pieces all over the tank sticking to everything, and it takes them all day, so it's a constant stream of little bits.
Now my Kole Tang spends his time hunting the whole tank for those floating bits or picking pieces stuck to algae or rocks around the tank. Instead waiting for the clip. And he basically has the whole tank cleaned up. Even the annoying spots.
