Hi everyone,
I am brand new to saltwater tanks and have not even begun yet as I am researching and trying to find a budget friendly option. I am heistant to start my saltwater aqurium journey as I here its uber expensive, allot of work and the fish are sensitive blah, blah, blah. So definately taking it very slowly. But thought joing here would give me plenty of helpful and reliable information.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!
Starting slowly is probably the best you can do. Take your time, read about setting up reef tanks, the nitrogen cycle, the ugly phase, and the required equipment.

If you have a better idea of what you will need, it will be easier to check what's within your budget 😁

I’m also new and just learning. I have FW tanks and when I think about the costs I think I’d rather retire
I hear you. But the urge and draw to SW tanks has akways been with me since I saw the yellow tank at a petco. But yes cannnot break the bank.

Hi

I’m also new to the hobby. Currently, fifth months in and I can tell you that I don’t regret picking up reefing at all. I use to come home from work and turn on the tv and now I just enjoy my tank with a couple IPAs. If you take the time to learn and read about other reefers mistakes you’ll progress exponentially in this hobby. When it comes to equipments I started with what was needed like skimmer, return pump and wavemaker (all were used) this hobby requires patience with that being said you can find great deals buying second hand equipments if you are patient.

Happy reefing,
