My tap has a pH about 7 or so, when I mix my instant ocean RC salt and then test it always seems to go to around 8.2. Does anyone else have this occur? Just curious! Perhaps there is a pH buffer in the salt mix...if so that's awesome!

I am not sure if it does or not, but a simple look at this is the mixing raises PH. When you mix it, this removes CO2 and in turn raises the PH. Provided you are not mixing it in a room with 15-20 people breathing lol.

It is normal and expected for an aerated salt mix to have a pH that reflects the total alkalinity present and the CO2 in your home air, just like the ocean.

It won't ever be pH 7. :)
