New big clam from the LFS last week. Was happy for the first 2-3 days but recently isn’t as symmetrically open. I Have 3 other clams that are much happier and open in the tank.

Debating whether to try a FW dip in case it’s pinched mantle.

I do have strong lights so I pulled it back 50% into acclimation mode for 3 weeks.

I see a little ruffling but not sure if its pinched mantle. If it's a larger maxima I wouldn't be to concerned with lowering the intensity of the lights. If it gets worse you can try a FW dip. Hopefully it comes around. Keep an eye on the health of your other clams too.

Yeah it's not opening up nice and happy. I'm going to try changing my flow patterns and pump directions to see if that makes a difference. If not, I'll try a buffered FW dip tomorrow.

Ok I repositioned it from center to closer to glass and it’s looking a little better this morning. Not sure if it’s from just time or the new position. Will hold off on the dip for now.

Yeah I am pretty familiar of where it’s supposed to be but this is the first maxima I’ve seen where it’s not sticking out

Sometimes they pull them in, or it could be hidden by part of the mantel
