Is Anyone into Ball Pythons?

I kept snakes through middle and high school but things have definitely changed! There's all these new 'designer' morphs and they're AMAZING!!

I'm thinking about getting into that hobby and get a few of them. They're all about genetics, it's all about dominant/recessive genes, breeding different genes together and the result can produce some insane looking animals! I'm still learning the terms, there's a lot to take in, but the way my mind works I"m sure I'll end up with a couple after not too long :D

Check out some of these morphs, this doesn't even begin to scratch the surface!

it's actually way different, there are many different genes with ball pythons that when combined produce the most amazing animals, it's unbelievable!!

I once saw a 26000 ball.....not kidding. I went with my 50$ one though lol. Those look sweet though!

I know... just meant that here morphs are a big thing... Be it pythons, clowns, or Zoas. Genetic mutations/variances are desirable.

Nice Ian! Those look $$$! I really like the albino looking one with colored head. I had a beautiful California King for about a year. Here's a little pic of him. Id like to get another. Don't know if I can step it up to the boas though!

Those are some crazy morphs Ian. Thanks for sharing. Ball pythons are a blast. I remember when there was only one morph and they were considered a beginner's snake...inexpensive and a dime a dozen. Now, as you mentioned, there has to be at least 100 morphs and some go for upwards of 20k.

I've downsized my collection but have a Mojave, Lesser, Pastel, and Spider - nothing too special but they'll certainly make some cool morphs when they starting breeding next year. I'm hoping to make a blue-eyed leucistic, like your first pic - I think. As for temperment, they have to be the most placid animal on the planet - hand's down. They are the perfect pet snake.

My favorite snake is a Jungle Jaya Jaguar Carpet python I got from ACReptiles. He's a looker and I'm currently pairing him to a large female Jungle Carpet Python I've had for about 10 years. I'm hoping they make me some beautiful babies this year. There aren't many out there with the male's Genetics.

I grew up and still live around nasty poisonous snakes. Makes it really hard to appreciate any kind of snake. I can see how people are into those though. Water moccasins and copperheads are always on my mind too much for me to ever keep a snake as a pet. Those are beautiful snakes though.

I was never scared of snakes, but the more copperhead I run into while trout fishing here in wv the more I don't like them. Those things are mean. I've had them chase me before.

I always liked those boa morphs but when I think about getting a big enough aquarium for them I think about the reef I could have in it instead haha.

I bred herptiles including Ball Pythons for almost 10 years back in the 90s. Other species I worked with were Veiled Chameleons, Leopard Geckos, Pictus Geckos, Fat Tailed Geckos, Frog Eyed Geckos, Day Geckos, Childrens Pythons, Jungle Carpet Pythons, ect... At the peak I was hatching 5-7000 eggs a year. I eventually burned out and sold my collection. It payed for a year backpacking Australia.

I've got a couple morphs and 1 that has became really rare over the past few years. That one is my green ghost ball and he is a 6 foot 40 pound baby lol, but I love my bumble bee balls too. I love my tanks but wouldn't trade my snakes for the world

I would suggest just enjoying them. The market for ball pythons and most snakes that are easy to breed and produce morphs are highly flooded. I've been in the reptile "industry" as a hobbyist and bred leopard geckos for a few years. The shows are just flooded with ball python and corn snake vendors.

I just got Fire, Sugar, Enchi and Pied girls, I'm hooked! All of the different combos you can produce are so amazing! Why does every hobby I get into have to be so dang expensive?? :D
