Mike! Ditto man. How is the tank doing? Is everyone gone or did Covid kill any momentum to meet?

EDIT: I'm back in CT (Ridgefield) and will likely setup a reef again. Would be cool to get together with you all again and hear what's up.

Welcome back to the neighborhood! Glad you're getting back into it again. We were kinda on a downslope pre-pandemic and Covid certainly didn't help.

I'm up for meeting up again for sure. Not certain I'm a qualified host any longer as my tank isn't an ideal example these days - hardware-wise maybe but the inhabitants have certainly looked better!

I see - well if there is no interest, it is what it is. But hopefully there are enough people that we can restart something.

No worries on hosting - we can just get together in a park somewhere, now that the weather is nice. Or we can crash a LFS :)

1200 lbs of fun arrived last week. I'm planning for 5-6 buddies to show up this weekend to help me move the tank in!

I guess I should probably start a build thread :)

I was going back and forth between multiple options but in the end, these were the main reasons:
- I wanted a top euro braced tank
- I wanted a slightly deeper and winder tank
- Stand is wife approved
- I couldn't justify Joe's price (my previous tank was from glass cages and I love it...)

Nice.
I really don't want to seem as a hater but this is my public service announcement. Just be aware. If you see any sand starting to get into the bottom seam or glass pulling away, have a backup plan.

Yep, no worries - thanks for watching out. I'm well aware of the failing tanks. That's why top eurobracing was my n1 requirement. I'm telling myself that the metal stand + bottom and double top eurobracing + metal lip under the front glass + seam guards S series mitigates a lot of the risk factors involved in the failing tanks. I mean there is almost 1.5" of seam at the bottom and 1" at the top... It's always possible they used plumbers putty for silicone so it just fails anyway (like in the two S series eurobrace bubbles that showed up last month).... I guess we're about to find out :)

For backup plan, a few leak sensors will also be placed under the stand to hopefully notify me of the situation. I have 55G of saltwater on standby (used for water changes), and about 200G of RODI water that can become saltwater quickly. I also have plenty of clamps, a quickdam bucket, and a couple of big drill bits to drill through the floor and let water go into the crawlspace if needed. Hopefully, I will not have to go that far and I agree I shouldn't have to even plan for all this but alas, here we are.

I also ordered the tank from House of Fins specifically so I can yell at them when things go wrong :)
