Is blue really blue

I want to build my own LED hood for my reef LED light strips are cheep compared to the over priced reef lights you can buy.
my question is if you put red green blue purple orange white strips together. ( I may have left out a few colors) do you have sun light? Seems like it would then just be a matter of how long to leave each color on and how bright?

Keep in mind, most reef lights use 3 watt led diodes(some are using under driven 5watt now) which will pack enough "punch" to reach the depths of our tanks.

Some of those cheap strip lights are using .1watt leds wich only provide enough light for our eyes to see, but not enough light to grow corals.
