My candy cane pistol shrimp is officially mia. My yasha behavior was off and now I haven't seen the shrimp in a few weeks.

Coincidentally I added this guy a few weeks ago..

Yellow striped cardinalfish.

Could he have ate him or was it probably a bad molt?

Only live stock is
2x green banded gobies
1x yasha goby
1x Yellow striped cardinalfish
1x peppermint shrimp
1x scarlet cleaner shrimp
0-1x Candy Cane Pistol
and a very large hermit crab. No idea what kind he is but isnt a blue or red leg.

Oh and I've seen some behemoth bristle worms

I put the shrimp in about a month ago too :(

I have not had good luck with pistol shrimp. They always hid on me. I always attributed it to being scared of the fish in the tank. I had one MIA for months but every now and then I could hear it at night. Hard to say if the fish ate it but normally they don't hunt for pistol shrimp.

I agree pistol shrimp can be very elusive and I did just add the cardinalfish.
But this candy cane pistol was very small
I think he is gone :<

-my Yasha is exiting a hole in the rock instead of at the sandbed
-there is no new sand mounds anywhere
-normally I see him a few times a day (22g AIO)

I remember believing I lost my first Candy Cane pistol and found him about 9 months later in the rear AIO chamber and he was twice as big. That is probably my favorite aquarium story so you could be right. They are sneaky..

My tiger pistol and YWG are about 3 now too.

I think you see the pistol more when paired up. Or maybe it is my smaller fish.

Oh, doesn't sound good. From the ones I had I did see them more when paired up.

Shrimp has been living in the rear All in one chamber AGAIN! I am disassembling this build and found him in the back.. Both times I added a candy cane they found the rear chamber for the first half a year.. -_-
