While it's possible a gamete from Oman drifted to Australia, it's not very likely ;)

To date A. maxima has only been found in the Oman Sea and trust me, no one is doing collection there.

same conversation different day - noone seems to get it
i just tried to explain this to someone else the other day
now obviously the experts could be wrong, (and obviously therefor i am wrong for reading their work)
but given the difficulty of coral id even if you have an actual dead skeleton of one, let alone from a photo - i will trust the likes of Veron, Sprung, and others when they say A. maxima is endemic to the reefs of oman (endemic by the way means only found there)

i have an acan some say was maxima but same thing its very very unlikly, i was told, because they only come from the oman sea....
they said maybe a bowerbanki(maybe spelled wrong) would be more likely
