So I havnt added anything new in a long while. I'm pretty obsessed with my tank and know every inch of my fuge and display. Havnt seen aptasia in there in 8+ months, having clipped the last bugger out rock and all.
I was cleaning my skimmer and found this on the rubber light shield. Then I find these on my safety overflow about 6 inchs away. They do not have the color of aptasia and are much thicker than the ones I originally had. But look like aptasia generally. Interresting that they are thriving only in the dark. Opinions.

It's a different species of aiptasia. I know what you speak of when you say they are thicker, as I've had that variety inside my covered overflow. I didn't have any in the tank itself.

How much do you care about having a display FREE of wires, pumps and equipment?
