Is my bta splitting or dying?

I picked up this guy yesterday and the owner of the lfs said he could be getting ready to split but everything I've read is that they split rather quickly. Here are a couple pictures. Thank you!

I would say it is acclimating to its new environment, during this time it could split depending on how stressed it is. May or may not.

The first pic kind of looks like it had split or been split then healed over not too long ago, or it may just be the position/picture.

Just watch it and let it do what it does. Cover any powerhead intakes.
