Is my Duncan dying/dead

So I got a Duncan about a week ago the tank that he was in isn’t doing too great so I just moved him to my main display tank. The picture I took was when I removed him from the old tank. Is he a goner or is he just really ticked off?? I just put him in the new tank. Usually you can see a mouth but I see where the mouth is. It’s just kind of closed up like a pebble. Thanks in advance.

Is the whole thing fleshy or is the flesh peeled off and skeleton showing?
Can't really tell what's what with the blued out picture - but when I first got my duncans some of them stayed closed for like 3 weeks while others opened up after just a couple of days so it might be normal behavior.

It still looks pretty flashy. I can see the tentacles but they’re extremely retracted. I don’t think they’re skeleton under the tentacles inside of the coral is there? If that question makes any sense lol I tried to turn the lights up a little bit, but it’s still not showing very well. That’s a little bit better photo

It looks mostly gone.... I don't know if that is some flesh in the middle? It might be able to rebound somehow, but it looks 99% gone to me

Incredibly recessed on its way to death from the look of things, I’m sorry. Do you have any other corals? What are your parameters like?

Duncans are finicky for me. Out of 3 DTs I only have one where they do well. Most of mine are in a 10g in my basement where they thrive on neglect lol.
I can't believe they sell single heads of Duncan like that. I guess it's like a booger sized acro frags and a sign of the times. If you were close I'd give you one of these. The one circled was a freebe I received in a coral shipment :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Is the stalk part covered in flesh or is that just skeleton?

Either way I'd say make sure it's in a place with not a lot of flow blasting it and make sure there's some nutrients in your water (nitrate, phosphate).

Even if you think it's dead/dying do not remove it. They have a chance to regrow and come back strong as long as there's anything alive at all - just leave it alone and see how it goes. Sometimes even in cases where you think there's nothing left a coral can come back (thinking of things like encrusting montipora).
