I use the hygger mini gyre and return pump in my 20G AIO it’s perfect , I even have it on max speed , but that is because I use an anemone guard
Honestly I am at a loss. I know my numbers arent bad however I cannot get it to flow nicely with the wavemaker in my setup. I want to have a higher flow in my tank it just doesnt look good and since shutting off the wavemaker this morning I can already see a positive change in the corals.

Not sure what direction your power head is facing but i always found that pointing to the surface a bit more and letting the flow bounce off the opposite glass before heading down slowed things up a bit. Just be aware if it is an open top tank it will increase evaporation. That may let you turn on the wave pump again. My 30gl had 900gph in total flow between 2 powerheads and the returns.
I was recommended that and tried. Still a huge amount of flow at the bottom of the tank. I am contemplating getting a controllable wavemaker to see if I can adjust more. I tried moving the wavemaker in different areas and trying different angles.

I have a 22gal cube with a 300gal return and a mini hygger powerhead that is 660gal, both turned up to max. I have the Carib sea fine sand and a pistol/goby pair and no issues with sand flying. Flow looks fine for that GSP but I can’t imagine it would be enough for much else though. Last month I had to use a mini return pump that was about 200 gal when my original broke and my stylo and acans wouldn’t extend at all due to poor flow
Thats whats making it difficult for me. My numbers look good however the flow doesnt. No matter what angles or placement I try with the wavemaker.

Since I turned it off this morning the corals have extended a lot more. My jeuvenile clown is exploring a lot more.

I just hope this doesnt cause an issue down the road. I am contemplating getting a programable one to try random and more controllable flow instead of just constant blasting.

Flow and gph numbers never correlate, it’s just about how dos the tank look, is there enough surface agitation , and is there no dead spots so that nutrients can break down

Currently have some gha growing so it gives me a good indicator of any dead spots. Everywhere looks good. I just tried turning on my wavemaker for the first time in over 24hrs. Corals definitely look rough and dont seem to enjoy it as much.

This was the flow when I had 90 up and running. If you can give different spots current rates of flow corals would happiest I’d think

Honestly I have been trying so many angles. It always seems to be the same. I think the tank is too small for the wavemaker.

Since I turned the wavemaker off it looks more smooth and rolling than just bashing around off of objects and walls
