Looks like suspended matter and not waste but if it is coming directly from the coral, may be expelling zooxanthellae due to lack of needed light. Insufficient lighting causes this type of coral to wither away and starve .
Hammers require just a moderate amount of light for photosynthesis and will grow well in the middle regions of your tank.

I do have it near the middle of my tank. It doesn’t seem to be losing color or anything like that. I got him on monday and he seems to be opened up/waving more. What do you mean by suspended matter?

Mine did the same exact thing within the first week in my tank. I believe it was cause of stress as they were airflown. But its been 3 weeks since then, and I dont see them “pooping” anymore and have infact gone really fluffy. I believe like others have said it could be expelling zooxanthellae either due to lack of light/too much light or basically stress response.

Exactly what Alex said. What lights are you using and how much par is that hammer getting? Maybe it just is taking some to adjust. Honestly, I have stopped stressing out unless I see flesh damage or polyp bailing out.

Why is this an emergency? That hammer looks to be in great shape.

I’m using some Aquaknight ones. It seems pretty healthy. It has no flesh damage or polyp bail out so that’s good.

That's OK. You are concerned which is good. Your goal will be to place at 90-120 par. What else is in the tank with it?
2 clowns, 1 yellow watchman goby, 1 zoa frag, 1 mushroom frag, 1 candy cane frag, and 1 acan frag

What I generally use as a benchmark to know when my hammers are happy and have adjusted. When their sweepers are constantly out. But its just for me and not necessarily applicable to everyone else. I do have an older hammer (the one in the background of the pic, that has been with me for 1 year) that barely sends out its sweeper. The other three in the pic have been with me about 10 months.

I have a Fiji Cube 38g peninsula tank with 2 AI prime 16hd on it. It’s a mixed reef tank with euphyllia dominated. There are a lot of corals in there. I barely have any room to add anymore and I have slowed down as I need to give them room to grow.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
