Is my Hannah Checker broken?

I have had my Hannah ULR Phosphorus checker for just over 2 years. Since January it has been reading 200, the number is flashing. It seems it is reading above it's test detection limit. It has done this for 2 different batches of reagent. I convert to phosphate using this formula phosphorous *3.066/1000. I have changed the battery, and also tested with my old API phosphate kit, which reads close to 0.0.

Did my Hannah Checker die? If I replace it, should I get a Phosphate ULR checker? Thanks for the input.

Does just aquarium water with no reagent read 200? If yes, Checker is broken or you have verrrrrry cloudy water. If no, check the reagent in new salt water. If that does not read 200, then your PO4 is high (0.6 ppm). I am not a fan of the API phosphate test.
 
Maybe test some new salt water made with 0 ppm tds ro/di.
Great idea! Thanks. First test of new salt water came back as 14 / 0.043, second test was 0 / 0.

Tested tank water again and back to flashing 200 / 0.613

So I guess the device is working, and I have a phosphate issue...
 
I think I will remove GFO and Phosguard and put in Chemi-Pure Blue.

Chemipure blue will have no significant impact on phosphate from seawater. The manufacturer claim it binds to the resin may be true in pure fresh water, but not in seawater. No polymer is good at binding phosphate from seawater.

GFO or Chemipure elite with GFO in it is much more effective.

I have been running Chemipure Elite for three weeks. No reduction in Phosphate. Should I double the dose/application? Nitrates are down from 8 to 3.
 
I don't think there is enough GFO in the ChemiPure elite to make that much of a difference of a short period of time. You may need t run a good bit more in a large sock. I used to use dollar store pantyhose.

When was the last time it tested below the max and what was the value (sorry if I missed it).

I’ve used Chemipure Elite to reduce phosphate in my reef. It works wonderfully. Believe me. You may have to be patient if there is phos bound up in the rocks. But stick with it.
