Just got this torch this is its second day in the system. Looks like tissue may be coming off of the base? Is this normal? Is it dying?

Thats a pretty weird looking frag,,,looks fresh with blob glue on side of coral branch to plug. As said check your parameters. How old is tank? Whole tank shot? But yes it looks like its going to die. Did you dip the frag for pest? Could be mucus probably not though. Wait and see all you can do

I do test, KH and salinity PH was all fine yesterday. I didn’t test magnesium because I just did a 40% water change before putting them in.

I assume it was fresh. I got it from coral stop for Black Friday. The only parameters I haven’t checked were magnesium and calcium but I assume it’s good because it’s all fresh water in there just did a WC the day before and no previous corals. The tank is 3 months old but I cycled it with already cycled live rock and have had fish and CUC for 2 months already. All levels were good before getting the coral, like I said I wasn’t generally worried about magnesium/calcium because I was doing weekly 15% water change and did one right before putting them in. All the other corals I got with this shipment look fine, it’s just this torch that is doing sloppy, kind of a shame because I liked this one the most and it was only $29.

Actually, I only noticed the tissue moving like that right after I moved it into a higher flow zone, I only moved it away from some hammers that I assume it was stinging because they both weren’t looking too hot and now look fine after moving the torch. It was trying to take them with it lol! They’re fine now, but after I moved the torch, the flow was blasting that spot where the flesh was “coming off” so I’m wondering if it was just getting blasted hence making it come off a bit?? I moved it to lower flow and it seems to be doing better before the lights went out, I’ll check on it in the AM. Fingers crossed

Also, since moving it, that fleshy part isn’t really moving at all, kinda stuck to the plug now, hopefully it heals. It was only moving when the current was hitting it from that side, but it looks as if that whole side has receded a few mm higher than the other side, I wish I had a picture of it from just receiving so I could see if it was already like that, but I doubt it could’ve receded that fast?
