Do you plan your coral set up? Beyond rockscaping, I mean do you write out or draw out where you envision things or does it just happen as you go? I'm brand new to this hobby and just wondering as I'm getting new frags and such should I be planning the layout in someway?

I had an idea of what light and flow each area had then I bought corals I bought would do well in those conditions and chose colors on the opposite of the color wheel to make them pop more.

Like putting bright orange next to a blue will make both pop more than a green next to a blue.

Best not to get caught up on names but look what would really work and pop there based on what is around it.

Red next to green, oranges by purples, yellows by blue, etc

It should kinda happen naturally as most of what will except newer conditions will likely fare well in lower light on the sand or lower on the build. Your gonna find that the higher light and flow lovers will also take a much more mature system. Work your way up and try not to plug a whole bunch of zoas or softies at the top and thank me later. :)

Invasive corals are fun until they're not.
