Is ramping up/down lighting proven to work?

I am purchasing T5\hybrid fixture, but the cost difference is literally $500+ between the name brands that ramp up/down and the others that don’t (Amazon grow lights)
Has the ramping up/down been proven to make coral grow better or is it just pleasing to make it seem more natural?
I mean seriously, Current USA has a thunder storm setting, drove my fish crazy when I had it on.
The lights I run now do not ramp. The blues turn on an hour before and off and hour after.
Reaching out for some of you guys wisdom to help me decide.
Which would you buy or do you have, and why?

I ramp my lights for my benifit, not for the tank. Ramping is not going to keep you from success. If cost is your driving factor then you will do fine with the cheaper lights.

Mine dont ramp but I light them in 3 phases. It lets me look at the tank and have a longer photoperiod but not grow algae. So they are all on 7 hours and other 5 hours dimmer.

Ok. I’m leaning toward the hybrid, but it only dims with an apex.

You can use any 0-10v dimmer controller. The Kessil spectral controller will work with the correct adapter (dimming only not color control).
