Is this a Lyretail Anthia?

Ya, I'm not getting the male vibe.

Lyretails vary in color based on where they are collected. I would guess Fiji for the more colorful ones.

I was at a fish store the other day and I saw a female Huchtii anthias. Must be that time of year for Cebu because they had a number of Cebu fishes and that's where they are from. If you look at LA the picture is just of a male and kinda pale greenish but with google pics there are some that look like it and are pale orange. The female in store looked like a lyretail but was a very pale orange and very similar to my red belted I mentioned before. Most of the time my red belted's are pale and don't show the belt. Since your having a hard time getting a good pic I would say this... if it does not have the bright blue ring the around eyes and blue line trailing back from eyes then I'd say it's not a female lyretail and pretty certain its not a male in transition or otherwise. Trust me it wouldn't be the first time a distributor sent out a mislabeled fish to a store.

Well, the anthias the OP posted the pic of did have the blue eye ring and the 'tear-mark'. Female huchtii are more pale greenish. I still think it's a female squammi.
