Is this a strawberry shortcake acro?

So I'm seeing this labeled as "red tulip". Wondering if its the same as a strawberry shortcake or something different.

It might be a. microlados (the species of SSC) but it looks a little different. I like it alot, are the polyps red? SSC is a lineages piece though, since this is not lineaged it actually isn't a SSC but it is a very nice coral. I want a piece.

Thanks for the response. I didn't know there were different species of this....hmm interesting. Well I'm picking up the frag tomorrow. I'll see how bright red the polyps are when I get it. Hope its at least close to being as pretty on the pic cuz I paid a pretty penny for a frag.

SSC is not a coral with lineage. They have imorted god knows how many from aussie and new ones still come in.

Op...i think it looks like SSC grown in captivity.

The original was sold by unique corals at macna '09. After that many wild colonies have been sold with the SSC name. The original unique coral SSC is still highly sought after.

The coral pictured is beautiful. Is it the unique corals SSC? It look close, but I am not one to say I it is or not

Yes it is :) I saw the colony he had. I was happy and looked pretty similar to the picture. It was the brightest coral he had, and he had 2-3 other SSC "type" coral mini colonies including a shades of fall. All paled to this one. Got my frag. I took a photo of his mini colony on my phone if you want to see it, if your thinking of purchasing. It is pricy but I'm happy with the color.

Oh yeah, also wanted to add that the owner of POTO said this is the second generation of a wild acro. The original colony (which he owned) died except for a nub he saved which is now this colony. He said that the 2nd generation coral is a lot brighter than the wild acro. I saw a photo of the original colony and he was right.

I think I would go for this coral any day over any other SSC variant. I have two SSC frags. One is a 3rd gen frag and is VERY colourful. This frag is from a source who had the wild coral for a few years.

My 2nd frag is fresh cut from a wild colony. It's been sitting dormant for at least 5 months. Brown too.

OP's source coral looks like it has red polyps where the polyps are growing on the main body. IMO thats beautiful. The growing tips looks like the usual SSC polyps. I would definitely pay $100 for a frag of this. :D
