Is this a type of Dino’s? What else is in there?

I’m pretty sure this is Dino’s, potentially prorocentrum? They mostly seem to disappear at night but grow everywhere during photoperiod. Mostly on the sand and hair algae I have in the tank. Dosing nitrate and phosphate, no water changes, adding waste away once a week. Running a GKM uv light 24w (50 gallon tank). Turkey baster off rocks/algae twice a day. Lights mostly just on blues. Dosing sodium silicate every so often. Doesn’t seem to be having any effect so far going on over a month of treatment.

No. The round ones I believe are ….crud I had them……prorocentrum.

There are a few diatoms but most of it are dinos. Prorocentrum is a good guess. @taricha ?

The rice looking thingys are diatoms… they seem very outnumbered by the Dino’s.

I’ll keep dosing silicate to try get the diatom numbers up then? Thinking about adding some poor man’s UV with filter floss to sides of tank to help if this works well

edit: the more stick-like cells are diatoms.

prorocentrum Does not go into the water column at night so that would t be helpful for that.

Phosphate: 0.1ppm Nitrate: around 8ppm
