Absolutely. Starting as basic as possible then maybe later in the year expand my options once I find stability with the tank and a good maintenance regiment

Be able to “control” the environment first, then add stuff.

You need light, get them set, never touch them again.

Monitor water chemistry (know you water) and once you can hold all six parameters on point for a full month you can basically add what you want, except some Acros. Once you see coralline algae on your hard surfaces, these are good to go as well including clams.

Keeping stable parameters is the single best thing you can do for everyone inside. It also reduces the onset of pest algae’s and bacteria and favours the good guy stuff, those guys you can’t see, but are the absolute best free rock and sand cleaners you can have. It also speeds maturity, more like 6 months if you have good solid water chemistry.

So much cheaper this way.

looks good. if you are planning on adding a lot of corals then it's better to have gentle slopes than cliffs. corals on cliffs will provide more shadow to the lower corals. also, if you plan mixed reef, i would go higher (with gentle slope) and put the SPS corals up, lps in the middle and softies low and middle. I would also get a par meter and test the pars at different levels. you can rent them from lfs or brs. low par in my opinion is the biggest killer of corals (they starve or are more prone to disease). Knowing your par will save you a lot of frustration and money. Also, i recommend getting a few marinepure cubes. They are extremely porus and host tons more bacteria than rocks. this prevents ammonia spikes specially when some organism dies in the tank.
