Is this brown diatom algae? This tank is about 3 weeks old. Glass fogs up with this stuff everyday! I am running phosguard but does not seem to be helping! Any suggestions how to get rid of this unsightly mess? I am using RODI water.

Happened with both of my tanks when they were close to finishing the cycle. Water gets murky, brown diatoms appear, and slowly start to turn green, then disappear. Did you use a bacteria booster? That can def cause a short murk period and lead to some diatoms. In my opinion, with a brand new tank, this phase is normal.

Def looks like an algae bloom in the water that should clear out when your parameters flatten out.

Yes I have been using Prime and Stability. Think that may be the cause?

Yes. You're introducing a lot of new bacteria to the system and conditioning the water at the same time. This is just a phase you need to wait out. My guess is that is should start clearing within a week or so.
