I bought a deresa about three months ago. I had it in a 29 gallon biocube and for the past month it has been in my 55 gallon reef. The guy at the lfs said it looks like this when its growing, so this is normal? It did not grow in the biocube but stayed colorful. Now I am seeing great growth

The only reason he's closed is because the rock was just moved to a higher position

It does look like it is growing. It also looks like that is a derasa and they would prefer to be on the sand bed.

I was going to place him on the sandbed but I don't want to rip his foot and possibly kill him, I've read that deresas eventually lose there foot and their weigh holds them in place so when this happens he will be moved

Yea, ya don't want to mess with him while he's got a good hold.
