Is this normal?

What is happening here with my shoom? for weeks now it has what almost looks like another mushroom growing on top of it. Is this normal, and if so what is it doing and what kind of mushroom is this. It is fairly small about the size of a quarter if not a bit less. Thanks!

I usually don't start worrying until they lose color or don't open. I'd just keep an eye on it for now. Like others have said, could be splitting.
