I purchased a frag of this acro from Peng (a well known deep water collector when he was still in the hobby)….he called it the princess disastah granulosa. I was wondering what others think…..it doesn’t look like a granulosa to me given how hairy the polyps are, but looking for other thoughts on the matter:

The tips are purple / mauve with a white polyp at the growth tip. The base polyps are a nice red color.

yes, it's a granulosa...........that's a nice colored colony you have there.

I have the same coral but mine is more branchy and doesn't have that kind of polyp extension. Polyp extension has nothing to do with the species type.

@ReefRy, Thanks for the kind words….That is the ora mint pavona. It is a nice structural contrast to acros without the out of control growth of a plating montipora

Thanks all for your thoughts, I guess it is a granulosa!

I have the same coral from Peng, mine doesn’t have the bushy looking polyps. It’s starting to pull a green base in areas, under a Kessil 500x , using some KZ products.
