How deep is your sandbed?
What do you have for flow?
What size tank?
What lights do you have? (( what lights was it under? Are you acclimating it to your lights? ))
What are your current water parameters --- with numbers please.
How long has your tank been set up?
Sand bed is a good 3-4 inches deep, took out all flow except filters to let it attach 20 gallon long tank t5 4 bulb HO
All water parameters are perfect nitrate 0
Ammonia0 ph 8.4 salinity 1.025
Tanks been up for quite some time longer than 5 months no more than a year
That is a really nice looking Malu.
I would scoop an area of sand nestled up against a rock or two, in an area where flow is moderate.
A 20g is kind of tough to keep params stable, not saying it can't be done, just harder.
They do require pretty stable params.
They do stay much smaller compared to crispa, the other sebae(I wish we would start calling them either crispa or malu to avoid confusion, such different species and demands)
good luck to you.
