Is this silicone reef safe?

Just need a small repair, replacing some foam on my floating algae scrubber. Was told to use any reef safe silicone

I found this in my garage workbench, new in package. wondering if I can use it safely in a reef?

There should be some kind of active ingredients list. You want it to say 100% silicone. No anti molding or anything like that.
GE silicon 1 is good, safe and cheap, not the GE silicone 2. But you can also get some aquarium branded silicone on amazon for relatively cheap

You want pure silicon. I use GE Silicon I from the hardware store with no problems for years, fresh and saltwater. Do not use Silicon II, which has mold inhibitors.

The RTV material you linked is *probably* pure silicon, but I wouldn't chance it. If it has ANYTHING extra in it, it *could* give you a problem. And a problem that would likely be a real head-scratcher to figure out three months down the road.

I also wouldn't overpay for *aquarium safe* silicon, or wait for shipping. GE Silicon I works, you can find it anywhere, and in even smaller/cheaper tubes than I linked above.

I don’t see an ingredient list on the pack, nothing about anti mold, but also nothing claiming to be 100% silicone.

I do see a “contains” section, but I don’t know if silicone contains these things, or if they are additives

Don't use, purchase the suggested silicones. These are know to be safe. My 2 pennies

Silicon should be 100% pure silicon. I am almost positive all those other things are mold inhibitors or something related to making a gasket. I don't believe that's what you want for your aquarium.

I don’t mind buying a new tube. Was just eager to get the repair done and have time at the moment.

I’ll just order this from Amazon, $5.75 shipped. realistically I have one use for it, and by the time I need it again, the remainder will be dried out and I’ll just buy another tube.

I get it, you just want to get stuff done, but the silicon you ordered is, I think, much more appropriate for your repair.
