Can anyone help me ID this, it’s encrusted in my Hammer colony I recently bought. Is it part of the Hammer? It opens and closes as if feeding has tiny hair like tentacles and closes tight shut when I have tried to pick it out.

A pic under white lights would be easier to identify.

I'm guessing either barnacle or vermetid snail. It is not harmful, but most people think it is unattractive. You can cover the opening with super glue gel to kill it.
Agree with this.

If it looks like a fan when feeding barnacle. Also when messed with and it looks like a trap door inside closes, barnacle.

If long string comes out and base kind of spirals with no trap door, vermatid.

Thinking barnacle though. If barnacle, usually corals don’t care about them being there and they don’t irritate the corals. I have a few wild colonies with barnacles on them and some where the barnacles died, as they couldn’t catch food from the water column where I placed them.

Thank you all, I'll keep an eye on it, but leave it alone
