first of all this is a fowlr fish only tank so I know it doesn’t matter for coral but was curious about algae and sleeping for fish. I have two older style reef breeders photons over my 180. I go to school in the morning and was hoping to be able to see them in the morning and I go to bed at 10ish. I was thinking of making two photoperiods but I’ve heard it’ll burn my leds faster. Right now i have it setup to ramp up very slowly at 6 a.m and peak at 5 p.m at 90 white intensity then fast ramp down til 10 p.m. If it would be a lot less mantinence and less stressed fish I will sacrifice the morning view. I am going to set it up soon.
Also would a 16 hour photoperiod be detrimental to my leds? TIA

I did my lights like that for years before I retired so I could feed in the morning before I left. I just had some whites ramp up in the morning then ramp back down. They were on for maybe an hour total including the ramp. I ran my regular cycle for corals later
