I reached out to the vendor

The vendor says it is a branch hammer.
they fragged it so they should know. Haha

They think it looks like that because it’s ready to split into two.

To add, he stated:

Some hammers like the ones from Australia go through the process of binary fission where it splits instead of sprouting new heads, which seems to be what the picture shows. Walls don't do that.

learn something new everyday. Thx r2r

and the vendor is willing to give full credit plus free shipping if it turns out to be a wall hammer.

Can’t ask for anything more.

Branching hammers just grow new heads and start off tiny, they don't suddenly decide to split like anemones
That’s what I thought also, but I can see tiny split in the head, unlike a wall hammer.

perhaps there is something to this “binary fission”... lol

also, they frag this hammer themselves.. so they should know
It’s not ez to frag a wall hammer.

That looks like a branching hammer to me, my hammers split like that all the time. The only thing holding me back though is the size of the frag, it looks really big for a branching hammer.

Well we will find out sooner or later. Lol

I dipped it, along with the peach-tip hammer... and is now in the DT.
the pic was taken right after. They are now more open. On the right is Rasta hammer

the single head peach tip, which is also a branching hammer, is HUGE. Lol

They look like some of the imported ones I've seen recently, I just saw a frogspawn that had heads that were like 3-4 inches in diameter lol. Could be branching, best way to tell now is to let it grow.

Yeah all of my branching hammers split by fission but also have sprouted new heads at the base of the flesh as well.

So do wall hammers have the same stony build just build out horizontally instead of vertically? Something I never thought about.

Afaik wall hammer grows horizontally as one base, thus making it difficult to frag successfully.

IS the head split in the middle? Or is is one giant long head? When it opens up more you should be able to tell for sure.

Hammer, frogspawn, and torchs can all reproduce by fission. They often sprout new heads too, but splitting is more common.

My wall hammer for reference:

One giant polyp across the entire skeleton.

If u click on the first pic above, u can zoom in, and see that is not really split in the middle. However u can see a hint of division.
I thought it was a wall hammer, too.
However, the vendor is sure that it’s a branch and thinks it’s in the initial process of fission.
The vendor is a respected sponsor here so I am gonna believe him 99% lol

Btw here is the pic I snapped this morning

That Toxic Neon is definitely neon. Lol

the peach tip has a nice blue hue with peach tip.
Looks much better in person. Will try to take better pic later time.
