I’d avoid the halichoeres in a tank that size, perhaps a possum wrasse would be a better third choice.

Generally avoid Halichoeres altogether for this size or because of the presence of the other two wrasse for this size?

Halichoeres tend to get too big for a tank that size. Additionally they tend not to very tolerant of other wrasses especially when they feel cooped up

Actually, I feel that the H. iridis or biocellatus will be fine in that tank. These are among the most peaceful Halichoeres species. They also aren't as active in open water as fairy and flasher wrasses, so will occupy themselves looking for pods among the rockwork.

I'm more concerned about an 8line flasher in that size tank. They are the biggest, most boisterous flasher species. 56g is a borderline tank size for one.

4-4.5” fish are too large for a 36” tank, IMO. @eatbreakfast is more of a wrasse expert than myself, however.

How often do iridis and biocellatus get over 4"? My biocellatus appears pretty mature and hes only about 3.5".

I’ve owned a few radiant over 4 inches, the one I have now is 3.5-4”. I bought a red lined a few months ago from a local reefer that was 3.5 perhaps a bit more. They do grow slower. I feel like radiant get larger than the 4.5 I see all over the internet— heck the purchase size I’ve received has never been under 3”, usually close to 3.5-4”

I think they get larger than people think.
