Isolate Aggressive Clown

My female clown (I'm assuming female because it's bigger) has been getting too aggressive with the male. They have always been a bit rough with each other.

Today I found the male in the corner and his fins look tattered. She is definitely hanging around him.

I guess I need to isolate one of them. I was planning on an acclimation box or similar. I assume I isolate the female correct? This way the male can recover and the female will lose a bit of its territory aggression?

I couldn't catch the female so I caught the male just to keep him safe today. I'll try to get the female later and swap them.

Following as my female is also a jerk and has killed 2 shrimp. She goes after the other fish sometimes but they seem to be holding there own and fight back a little. Have not tried isolation yet, but might give it a try.

Caught the female tonight, I just scooped her up while she was sleeping. I'm not sure if she even noticed, lol.

Im in the same boat as you are. I have a couple of clownfish whom I have had since I had a 40G tank. I moved them to 75G not a month ago and added a brown powder tang after 2 weeks. The smaller (male) clownfish was aggressive with the tang although Tang is thrice its size. The brown tang held its own and they all became like the best of friends. I then added 2 anthias and the small clown just wont leave them alone.Tore both anthias's fins and wouldnt let them come out of their small hiding place. I tried keeping the fish catching net where the anthias hide but clown overcame their net fear, LOL. So finally I got an isolation box and have isolated both the clowns. Anthias are happy and recovering and initially the clowns could not stand seeing the anthias close to them but now are settling in. I saw a youtube video where a guy isolated an aggressive wrasse for 3 days. I am going to isolate them for a week since its really hard to catch them. How long did you isolate and did it work. Any other suggestions?

I isolated her for a week. He stayed right outside the box the whole time. I let her out and she started picking right away. It took a while (like a month) but it seems to have stopped. The aggressive behavior hasn't stopped, but no more biting. His fins are healing up now.

I am having the same issue with some younger clowns. They were great for 2-3 weeks after purchasing, but then the smaller more vibrant colored one started nipping the other one. Purchased an acclamation box for the aggressive one to give the other clown a chance to heal. Fins are alright but could use time to grow back. Not really worried about the aggression as much as the physical damage. Unfortunately those go hand in hand. Will be trying a week for the pair to see if things improve. So far they are still inseparable with the acclamation box. No aggression or submissive behavior while viewing each other through the acclamation box.
