ITT: We rank the hardiest fish

Man it’s been like a year and a half since I been on here life got busy and my reef just started to flourish the less and less I messed with it but Monday I upgraded to a new tank and had a nuke go off. I was mixing water the night before and somehow, some way, a clump of salt like hardened to the side, or to the lid of my mixing container I don’t know, but when I added more water to my tank I lifted up my mixing bin and poured the rest and saw a glob of salt fall in. It immediately expanded and covered my two clowns of three years my cardinal and six line.
Lost everything but one clown.

My first saltwater fish ever, the one that’s been with me through my entire learning process, who’s handled more nukes due to idiotic mistakes and wrong advice, is still alive and kicking. From Tuesday To Today he’s been laying on his side breathing heavy and twitching and struggling to move. Went to work today and got a video from my wife of him swimming and going up for air a little but other than that so far he’s ok.

Made me think about how resilient and how much life this little guy has. I can’t confirm if he’ll make it but I’m dang proud of the fish he is today.

So with all that vented and bringing us to here, what fish do you believe to be the most resilient or hardiest and could survive even the most catastrophic of mistakes anyone experience or in-experienced could make?

They could survive even a nuke (alright I am kidding maybe not a nuke)

Damsels... which includes clowns...

I have a little springer damsel who had a aggressive infection on its tail that quickly ate away to the bone. The tail never grew back but the fish survived. This probably would have killed many other types of fish.

Just saw a post here of someone's tank that was wiped out by velvet except the two damsels just living life...

Damsels were some of the first kept fish in the hobby when people didn't know anything on how to keep fish alive... didn't know what a cycle was... bleaching the rock and décor over and over....others died but the damsels could survive the abuse.

Eels, that’s interesting. I’ve always wanted them but heard like octopus they’re escape artists.

dude. my watchman goby has been through it. It survived a velvet outbreak, ich outbreak, AND flukes outbreak. it only caught a mild case of the flukes and nothing else. It also has been through a million other tank events. and guess what, Banana is still kicking it at 6 years old.

Banana, at one point, also ate a pistol shrimp nearly the same size as him

If I had to name a eel for which I have, it's the tessalata (gymnothorax favagineus) but in particular I would say almost all the eels are robust such as the other 4 species of eels i have, literally almost immune to all types of external parasites and extremely resistant to all sorts of damage.

You can't expect a fish to survive 6 or even 8 hours out of water can you? Now that's a moray.

That's indeed true, depending upon the eels size if it's even a 1 inch hole, just somehow they always find their way out, as much as it's annoying it's also rewarding, though, it is really unlikely for bigger eels to do that, only the little guys about a few inches

I have to go with damsels, including clownfish. I think there is a reason why we used to use them to cycle a tank.
