This is my build thread for this tank.

I got this waterbox aquarium stand and sump for free from a really cool reefer who sold me that green anenome. My plan is to make this my permanent reef tank set up. I have gotten sucked into this hobby with tons of obesession and realize I am not in the position where I can have my dream reef and I cannot afford nor have the time to have evevrything i could desire. I think I will plumb my 15g macroalgae tank to my 29g display then let that set up rest. I am yet to post my tanks because i spent all my time posting my tanks on reddit before I joined reef2reef.

Anyways the waterbox. When i search this model online i cant find anything other than the CLEAR 2420. The stand has a cut out on the top back for plumbing which i would like to utilize. I am not sure what tanks i can put on this. Does anyone know any predrilled tanks larger than 30g that would fit this stand? I really really reallly want to get this started with the sump especially. Im not sure anything about the sump but its larger than my 15g cube and its got all of the cutouts and walls for a filter sock and protein skimmer, biomedia and even macro if id like. Its a total start to something great. I need to clean the sump and buy a tank then im ready to start but if I cant find a tank that is good enough for me i will probably just sell the stand and sump and wait with these two tanks plumbed together and optimize those. If not ill break those down and put it all into this build.

I need to have more space because right now I have a hi fin goby, monster goby, pistol shrimp, pithos crab, scissortail dartfish and melanarus wrasse which is brand new. Im immediately seeing that compared to all other fish the melanarus wrasse is way more conscious and is a true hunter. Ive been observing alot since i got it. My large porcelain crab faced death the first morning. I know i need something better than what I have now for the future of my fish and corals.

Game plan:
-Find a drilled tank to fit the stand
-Learn more about sump system and what i can do with this system (automation? I am starting work away from home soon)
-prepare tank, sump, stand for move
- Get inspired by reefapalooza new york 2026
- start another project
- refine and redirect projects

Seriously, i would like to make this tank an automated tank that i dont need to check on daily. I want this tank with sump to be my automated perfection. My showpiece. Something to really be proud of after time. I am an experimentalist i love to tinker which i think is my problem. I want this to be my dedicated reef and then focus my efforts on optimizing everything like making a ro mixing station and optimizing water changes and everything so I can be as hands off as possible. Im starting commercial fishing soon so my time will be taken up.

I just got the stand. I need to take measurements then figure it out.
Let us know how you're making out. I'm at least "decent" at building stands 🙂

The stand is good condition except alot of the aesthetic of the metal hinges and things are rusted but still work well. I originally wanted to build a multi tier system but decided on a rack system from home depot and modified it with wood panels.
