So, I bought one of these - and I didn't plan on doing it! I could not resist, she's an absolute beauty and may very well be on her way to become one of my absolute favourites in the reef tank.

After quarantine, she will be introduced into her new home! :star-struck:

Who else has one of these?

Very nice indeed lovely colours
Aye, it was just one of those times where you couldn't resist! That, and she sold for £40 which is unheard off for one of them over here.. :star-struck:

It was the best video I could get with short notice :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
I can’t open the video on my phone but I’ll take your word for it. I kinda figured it’s head looks like my diamond watchman goby but the colors, wow just wow! If when I bought my goby this was next to it I would of walked out with the one you have!

It was very hard to walk out of the shop without her! :) She's about 4 inches long so a fair size as well! :)

I didn’t watch it. I am glad you got it at a decent price and if I ever think about buying one for our tanks I’ll probably just come back here and watch yours to prevent myself from getting one.

I have grown tired of acquiring new charges to maintain and I need to be happy with what I/we already have. There are so many fishes and corals that I can want and I am struggling to be content with the shoals and tank creatures that are overflowing in my care.

What’s going to happen when I don’t have the ability to keep up with the maintenance is a question that has been haunting me for awhile now?

It’s a beautiful goby and I am very happy for you.

i cant think

Valenciennea bella is one of my favourites, the only Valenciennea that just beats this species is the Valenciennea helsdingenii.

One warning is, if your tank is under 4’ long (4’x2’ is the minimum floorspace this species should have IMO), has a sandbed less than 2-3” and isn’t over 2 years old this species usually starves out.

I’ve had one for about a year now. I named it muppet since it kind of has a Kermit the frog face.. haha. It does a fantastic job of turning over the sand bed in the entire tank and builds lots of tunnels under the rocks. It does make a mess of any corals that are closer to the sand bed. I am constantly having to unbury some low lying rocks with zoos on them. Really interesting fish addition. Good Luck!

I have had mine for about 2 months. We absolutely love this fish! When it’s out of its chosen cave that it maintains, it’s swimming about, taking mouthfuls of sand and sifting it. Ours could single-handedly maintain our 48”x30” sandbed. Definitely need to dust off our corals on the sand bed a time or two daily. We have a Yellow Watchman Goby also. About a week after introducing our Bella, the Watchman joined the Bella in the same cave! It stands guard as though it’s sharing a hole with a Pistol Shrimp. They have made for a very entertaining pair to observe.
