Yep that's it. I have a local plastics shop that I buy it from. Same place I get all my acrylic. You'll also want a small needle applicator and a small funnel. The edges that are fusing together need to be smooth, you want the pieces making as much contact as possible. Then once you have them positioned run the needle on the applicator along the edge, you will be able to see it wick in between the pieces. For extra precaution, after this first set dries, I put several drops along the edge and tip the piece back and forth running the bead of cement over the bond. Also try to bond from both sides if possible.

Not weld-on related but if you are bending the acrylic cut it to height after the bend. When the acrylic bends it tends to pinch out on the edges. Cutting afterword removes this pinched area so it is perfectly flat. I figured this out because I noticed on Tanked and Fish Tank Kings they always cut after shaping the acrylic. This is a much smaller scale but same basic principle.

The official start of the contest is finally here!

Initial test readings are below. I started with uncured dry rock that had some dead junk on it so the high phosphate readings aren't surprising. I'll be doing a water change to get the phos and nitrates down and then I will start adding corals. I already have frags cut and ready to go in my other system.

Specific Gravity - 1.025
PH - 8.3
Ammonia - 0.25
Nitrite - 5
Nitrate - 5
Calcium - 460
Phosphate - 0.25
Alkalinity - 9 DKH

Tested levels again today and still a little high to start adding corals. Better than yesterday though. Maybe over the weekend.

What kind of stuff do you use to test with?

I'm using API text kits. Today I just tested ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate. The water change yesterday helped so I may do another today. I also seeded the tank with a little bit of water from my other tank thats been running for a while.

Awesome. I was just curious. I use those too

I've been using API since I started reefing a few years ago. So far I've liked them. The only one i don't really like is the phosphate test. it doesn't show low enough levels at small enough incrimates.

What do you use to check your phosphate levels?

I use the API test kit but I will probably look to change to another. I want one of the hannah checkers but I've been waiting for a cheap used one to come along.
