I cleaned my wave makers yesterday and noticed that the internal part of the magnet was exposed.
There's no sign of rust at all but my display, especially my acros, has been having issues lately with no real water problems showing up on my tests.
Could this be the problem?

If the magnet isn’t expanding due to saltwater infiltrating the coating or you don’t notice a seam broken, I wouldn’t think so. These powerheads tend to die pretty fast when the magnet expands.

To be sure, I would definitely run a poly filter and see if it shows any signs of metals. Might be worth getting a replacement power head and switching it until you know for sure. £60 Powerhead vs £££ in SPS.. better safe than sorry!
